Connection that supports wellbeing

At Connect Care, we recognise how vital social connection and community engagement are for physical, emotional, mental and cognitive health.

Our community support and companionship services help maintain meaningful connections and support access to the activities you enjoy. We assist with recreational outings, shopping, errands, and medical or non-medical appointments.

We also provide wellness checks, offering reassurance for families and ensuring wellbeing at home.

Our focus is on helping people remain safe, well, independent and connected.

Mhairi Aitchison

Connect Care Founder and Service Manager

As Founder and Service Manager of Connect Care, I am committed to delivering trusted person-centred homecare in Tauranga. Originally from Scotland, I moved to New Zealand in 2005, settling in the Bay of Plenty which has proudly been my family home ever since. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy and have extensive experience working within the Tauranga community, supporting people with diverse medical, neurological and physical conditions.

My professional background includes conducting needs assessments, developing tailored support plans and providing advocacy, education and rehabilitation services for individuals living with dementia, traumatic brain injuries and a range of other health conditions. I also spent four years as a Dementia Navigator with Alzheimer’s Tauranga, where I gained invaluable insight into the challenges families face. This experience inspired me to establish Connect Care in 2019, creating a locally owned service focused on delivering personalised care and flexible options for clients and their families.

Connect Care offers flexible homecare, respite and community support services, from short wellness checks to full 24-hour care. Our mission is to deliver person-centred support that upholds independence, dignity, and meaningful connection, while giving families peace of mind.

In loving memory of Jean Mackay

A very special lady, whose kindness and generosity touched everyone she met, once said:

No matter what obstacles you face in life, always approach them with integrity, compassion and kindness.

Connect Care was founded on those values and our clients are at the heart of everything we do.
