Hi, I’m Mhairi and I am the Service Manager and Owner of Connect Care. Originally from Scotland, I moved to New Zealand in 2005 and settled in the sunny Bay of Plenty with my family.
I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy and have extensive experience working in the local Tauranga community. My expertise includes conducting comprehensive needs assessments, developing individualised support plans and providing advocacy, education, and rehabilitation services to individuals with dementia, traumatic brain injuries and a variety of neurological and physical conditions. Prior to relocating to New Zealand, I worked as a Community Occupational Therapist in the UK.
During my four years as a Dementia Navigator with Alzheimer’s Tauranga, I gained invaluable insight into the emotional, physical, and practical challenges dementia presents to both individuals and their families. This experience not only broadened my perspective but also deepened my understanding, ultimately inspiring me to found Connect Care.
At Connect Care, we offer a comprehensive range of flexible home-based and community support services, available on both a short-term and long-term basis. Our services range from 2-hour visits up to 24-hour care. Each support is tailored to meet the unique needs of our clients. Additionally, we provide home-based respite care, offering essential support and respite for family caregivers.
Our mission is to empower individuals to live with dignity, confidence, and independence, helping them lead fulfilling lives.
A very special lady once told me ‘no matter what obstacles you face in life, always approach them with integrity, compassion and kindness’
Connect Care is founded on those 3 values and our client’s are at the heart of everything we do.
