My name is my Mhairi and I am the owner of Connect Care. I am from Scotland originally and moved to NZ, settling in the sunny Bay of Plenty with my husband and family 15 years ago.
I am very excited to be able to offer services to clients in Tauranga and the surrounding areas and am passionate about supporting people to maintain and maximise their independence, in their own homes and communities.
My background is in Occupational Therapy and I have a broad range of experience working in the local community. Over the past 15 years I have enjoyed providing support, advocacy, education and rehabilitation services to client’s with traumatic brain injuries, neurological and physical conditions and trauma/injuries resulting from accidents.
My passion is supporting client’s and their families on their journey with dementia. Four years working with Alzheimers Tauranga as a Dementia Navigator provided me with valuable insight into the considerable effect and impact dementia can have on a person, their care partners and families. Unfortunately the lack of support services, in particular home based respite services available was very apparent. This knowledge, along with my experiences supporting and educating client’s with other neurological and health conditions and injures inspired me to set up Connect Care.
I am looking forward to providing a range of flexible home based and community support services to meet client’s individualised needs and enhance quality of life.
A very special lady once told me ‘no matter what obstacles you face in life, always approach them with integrity, compassion and kindness’
Connect Care is founded on those 3 values and our client’s are at the heart of everything we do.
